Mercedes-Benz to Premier New Engine in E-Class

Mercedes-Benz has slowly been releasing details about the new OM 654 diesel engine in the E-Class E220, slated for production in the second quarter of 2016. Marking the launch of a family of four-cylinder engines that use high-strength, all-aluminum materials, these newly designed engines will proliferate throughout Mercedes-Benz’s lineup with both longitudinal and transverse configurations available.

The OM 654 engine that will come with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class E220 is also designed to displace 47.5 fewer cubic centimeters per cylinder and provide higher horsepower with the same amount of torque as the current OM 651 engine.

The all new OM 654 engine provides an NEDC combined consumption of 60 mpg and CO2 emissions of 102 g/km, which is a cut of around 13 percent compared to its predecessor, the OM 651. Able to push the power output up to 192HP, the OM 654 engine that will come with the new Mercedes-Benz E220 offers incredibly efficient and powerful performance to drivers around the Toledo, OH area.
